In the spring of 2016, the Government of Quebec unveiled its Québec 2030 youth policy - Together for present and future generations. This policy emphasizes the importance of young people in Québec society and reaffirms their key role as agents of change in order to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. In the same vein, the government launched its 2016-2021 Youth Action Strategy to implement concrete actions on the ground.
Laureate
It is in this context that the Premier of Quebec announced that he will present 11 Youth Recognition Awards annually to recognize the achievements of youth and the commitment of youth workers. The laureates must stand out exceptionally well in their respective fields.
A youth category prize (15 to 29 years old) and a Youth Leader category prize (18 years and over) will be offered under each of the five axes of the Québec Youth Policy. These axes encompass the areas of health, education, citizenship, employment and entrepreneurship. Also, the Emmett-Johns Award will be presented at this ceremony. The purpose of this award is to highlight the exceptional contribution of a person to youth during his / her career. For the occasion, this is the most prestigious recognition.
Each laureate receives:
- A non-taxable scholarship of a variable amount (between $ 1,500 and $ 4,000)
- a trophy made by students from the School of Design at Laval University
- a certificate signed by the Premier of Quebec
