7th National Youth Gathering Canadian Roots Exchange Gathering
September 19, 2018
Canadian Roots Exchange’s National Youth Gatherings are facilitated by youth, for youth. Through our gatherings, we aim to:
1) Facilitate and open spaces for dialogue and sharing between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth
2) Encourage youth to engage in dialogue on the significance of solidarity and reconciliation
3) Challenge negative stereotypes that divide our communities
Our gatherings allow young people to develop and reinforce a network of youth working to promote respect and understanding between all peoples living in Canada.
Since 2013, Canadian Roots Exchange has hosted six National Youth Gatherings in cities such as Sudbury, Winnipeg, and Saskatoon. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of our organization, we will host our 7th National Youth Gathering in Saskatoon, Treaty 6 Territory.
For three days, a diversity of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth will come together to learn from each other, and become more aware of the history, teachings, and daily realities of Indigenous communities in Canada. Keynote speakers and youth-led workshops will place an emphasis on positive youth mobilization, leadership, and reconciliation.
